Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward after a collision between two cars in Santon Downham.

The incident occurred at approximately 8.20pm on Friday 24 January on the B1107 Thetford Road, 50 metres from the exit for High Lodge on the Brandon side.

A red Alfa Romeo 147 and a grey Vauxhall Vectra were involved in a head-on collision.

The male driver of the Alfa Romeo was taken to West Suffolk Hospital having sustained a fracture to his spine. The road remained closed for over four hours as a result of this incident.

A collision investigation is underway and police are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed either of the vehicles involved travelling along the road either prior to, or at the time of, the cars colliding.

Any witnesses are asked to contact PC Lee Orriss at the Bury St Edmunds Roads Policing and Firearms Operations Unit on 101.
