Superfast broadband coming to Brandon

Published: Tuesday 11th March 2014 at 12:30

Engineers working on behalf of BT Openreach have started work in Brandon to upgrade the telecoms cabinets in preparation for superfast broadband.

The upgrades will make fibre optic internet services available in the town which allow residents access to broadband speeds of up to 76Mb when it becomes active.

The work being carried out in Brandon is being done as part of the Better Broadband for Suffolk programme which is funded by Suffolk County Council, other local councils, the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) and BT.

The Better Broadband for Suffolk Programme is aiming to bring better broadband to all of Suffolk, and ensure that the benefits are maximised by businesses, households and service delivery organisations.

No dates for 'switch on' of the service have been given by BT or Better Broadband for Suffolk however, based on upgrades in other areas, we would expect fibre services to be available in Brandon within the next couple of months.

We will update this story when more information becomes available.
