Suffolk crews tackle straw fire just across the border

Crews from Suffolk Fire & Rescue Service returned to the scene of a fire across the border in Hockwold this afternoon.

An appliance from Brandon was sent to reports of a blaze at Black Dyke Farm just after 1.30pm today, Wednesday 2nd September.

Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service also mobilised one of their appliances from Downham Market to assist with the incident.

On arrival they found approximately 9 tonnes of straw smouldering inside a barn which had caught fire last week.

Crews used one ground monitor, one hose reel jet and small hand tools to extinguish the fire.

A stop to the incident was called at 4.14pm.
