Brandon’s branch of the Royal British Legion has made the decision to cancel this year’s Remembrance Day parade.

The event would normally take place on Remembrance Sunday but has been cancelled due to government restrictions.

A small wreath laying ceremony will take place which will be streamed online so people can watch from home.

Alan Saxby, chairman of the Royal British Legion in Brandon, said: “Owing to the current restrictions brought about by the Coronavirus outbreak there will be no Remembrance Parade this year in Brandon.

“A small wreath laying ceremony will take place and we hope to ‘live-stream’ this at 11.00am on Sunday the 8th of November to the Brandon Forum and Brandon Royal British Legion’s Facebook page.

“The public are asked not to attend this event but representatives of the local organisations will lay the wreaths on behalf of our community.

“At 11.00am on Wednesday 11th Nov a two minute silence will be observed on the market square.”
