Suffolk fire crews assist with blaze at Norfolk cattery

Fire crews from Suffolk were called to assist with a blaze at a cattery in Hockwold cum Wilton just outside Brandon.

Eight appliances were sent to the incident at the Country Retreat Boarding Cattery just before 5pm this evening, Thursday 29th October.

A water carrier, aerial ladder platform and Norfolk Fire & Rescue’s control unit were also mobilised to the scene.

On arrival crews found the building well alight and used teams wearing breathing apparatus along with hose reel and main jets to extinguish the blaze.

At the height of the blaze residents were asked to remain indoors with their doors and windows closed.

Crews will remain on scene through the night to check for hot spots and prevent reignition.

All persons have been accounted for and no cats were harmed.
